A young property developer has come up with a new-age solution to a traditional problem. Miranda de Freston who with the help of her partner Phil Jones, is renovating a Victorian Terrace house in Kenilworth after buying it 18 months ago.
The hands-on 28 year old gave up her job as an operations manager for a packaging consultancy firm to take on the project.
But soon after moving into the property, she realised she had no experience of any local tradesmen, and so had to rely on un-recommended workers.
Miranda who moved to the area from Birmingham, said “Nowadays, you don’t get to know everybody on your street – you don’t have the conversations over the garden hedge culture.” But despite her difficulties Miranda suddenly had an idea – to create an online community which could recommend good tradesmen, as well as share hints and tips on property development.
And that saw the birth of JuggleFrogs.co.uk Miranda said: “We found it a nightmare finding out where to look and I just thought it would be a great idea to start a website where people could select the kind of work they need doing and find someone in the area in which they lived.
“JuggleFrogs will also help tradesmen¬†because as well as being able to advertise they will be receiving quality leads for work that they are able to complete as opposed to being called on for work that is outside their remit.”
She added: “I chose the name JuggleFrogs because it is different, but also because it is an old saying, which means to make something difficult happen.
“And the whole site is about trying to make something which is difficult, like finding good tradesmen, much easier.”
Miranda’s brainwave has already led her to pick up ¬£1,500, after winning the ‘What’s the big idea?’ competition run by the Eliot Park innovation centre in Nuneaton.
Miranda de Freston picked up the cash after impressing a panel of judges.
