Discovering Free From Fish Fingers made me feel like a big kid! Historically there has never been anything I can eat in the frozen food aisle so I was extremley surprised to find that the fantastic Sainsbury’s Free From range now make Free From Fish Fingers. A childhood favourite of mine that has been off the menu since discovering my multiple intolerances. I literally skipped home on cloud 9 to get them under the grill!
What makes Free From Fish Fingers so great is that they suit a variety of restricted diets including dairy free, gluten free and wheat free. They are also suitable for coeliacs.
Ingredients: MSC Certified Pacific Cod, Batter; Crumb Coating; Palm Oil
Batter contains: Cornflour, Maize Starch, Water, Modified Maize Starch, Salt, Mustard Powder, White Pepper, Stabiliser: Zanthum Gum, Colour: Paprika Extract
Crumb Coating contains: Rice Flour, Dried Potato, Salt, Emulsifier: Mono and Driglycerides of Fatty Acids
After a quick 12 minutes under the grill or 15 minutes in the oven, the Free From Fish Fingers are ready and smell divine! Served with a few chunky potato wedges and salad, they make a very tasty, satisfying and comforting dinner reminiscent of days gone by where food restrictions where not an issue. I am one very happy fussy foodie – Free From Fish Fingers made my day!

August 22, 2010 at 9:00 pmMmm, I also miss fish fingers, although I really miss them in a sandwich. Fish fingers between two slices of rye bread just wouldn’t work. 🙁 Still, I keep meaning to make my own by making a oatmeal crumb. Has anyone else tried to make their own gluten-free fish fingers?

November 23, 2012 at 6:14 pmI’ve just found out I have a yeast allergy. I was gutted to find there is yeast in the bread crumb of most fish fingers out there like Birds Eye, Youngs etc. Is the crumb in these yeast free?

December 18, 2016 at 7:13 amSadly Sainsbury has changed the ingredients and I tried the new ones them but the crumbs are now heavy going and some ingredients are not suitable for me.
The old version was fantastic.
