Being a Fussy Foodie

2009 Fussy Foodie mission

It’s been a while since my last post after being knee deep in turkey and trimmings, and fighting off, unsuccesfully,  the mass of viruses going around! It’s been a great 2008 and I am determined to help more Fussy Foodies in 2009 to find and create inspiring recipes and products.

I’m really looking forward to getting to meet more people whatever there food preference, intolerance or allergy.

Why am I a Fussy Foodie?

The end of 2008 saw my resolve challenged with lots of sugary treats everywhere. I fell off the wagon a few times to be honest, and surprisingly not when you might expect. I think I am slightly intrigued after all this time to see if I do have any reaction to foods I don’t normally eat, particularly as a friend of mine recently challenged the roots of my fussy foodiness, and like many other people, said “it’s all in my head”.

It’s a tricky one but all I know is I have tested myself the last few months and I’ve summarised the outcome below…

  • a small amount of potato – results in painful stomach cramps
  • normal bread – actually not too bad, really depends on what bread and the quantity, but I can find I am  bloated and my stomach very tight
  • dark chocolate (with sugar) – huge headrush and not in a good way, then headaches for most of the day

In general I just dont feel as good as I know I can feel, with an overall feeling of lethargy – for me being a Fussy Foodie is hard work, really challenging at times but it makes me feel my best. So this year I am determined to make my life as a Fussy Foodie that little more interesting.

Fussy Foodie Mission

Variety is the spice of life so I am on a mission to get some more friendly recipes. I am working through my recipe books to see what I can do, hopefully convert a few classic (and also some not so classic!) recipes to Fussy Foodie friendliness. There are bound to be some mistakes and I’ll have a few lessons learnt along the way which for me is all part of the fun.  Out of it, I’m hoping I can create some amazing, memorable & replicable dishes which I can share with you all.

Happy 2009 everyone and looking forward to hearing all your Fussy Foodie stories.

I’m really loving how Fussy Foodie has developed since we began in September 2008 and can’t actually believe we’ve been going for only 4 months! We’ve done so much in such a short space of time and that makes me really excited for 2009. I’m looking forward to seeing where our gastronomic journey takes us. Fussy Foodie Mission here we come!
